I’ve been thinking a lot about midlife lately and some of the best things this stage of life brings that aren’t always celebrated.It's a time when we come to know ourselves more deeply, and if we use those insights wisely, they can make all the difference in the direction we choose for the next few decades.So over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing a series of posts to help you reflect on your direction in midlife.It’s a time when we can stop and ask ourselves, what have the last twenty or thirty years taught me? Where in my life am I most energised? And which parts of my life or work, most drain me?You might find it helpful to journal on one or more of the following prompts.✨ What achievements or experiences am I proud of, even if no one else noticed?✨ When do I feel most energised?✨ What patterns, habits, or roles no longer serve me?✨ When do I feel most able to be the person I am today?✨ What would I like to carry into the next chapter of my life?You don’t need to have answers to all of these questions. Overthinking isn’t a personal failing.It’s often a sign that you’ve been over-functioning or just overloaded.When we try to stop overthinking by thinking our way out of it, the mind just becomes even busier. What helps instead is noticing what’s happening, taking some of the pressure off yourself, and creating a sense of space where you can genuinely think more clearly.If you’re someone who has been holding it all together while your mind feels constantly busy, I hope these tips are helpful.
